- Consists of three lobes: the upper lobe, the middle lobe, and the lower lobe

- The upper lobe is further divided into three segments: the apical segment, the posterior segment, and the anterior segment

- The middle lobe is divided into two segments: the lateral segment and the medial segment

- The lower lobe is divided into four segments: the superior segment, the medial basal segment, the lateral basal segment, and the posterior basal segment

- The right lung does not have a cardiac notch because there is no heart resting on it
