My friend just got braces and three weeks later her lymph nodes are swelling. Can cause swollen nodes?

There are a few possible causes for swollen lymph nodes after getting braces. One possibility is that the braces are causing irritation to the gums and tissues in the mouth, leading to an immune system response and the swelling of lymph nodes. Another possibility is that the swelling is due to an underlying infection, such as a virus or bacteria, that is not directly related to the braces. It is also possible that the swollen lymph nodes are a result of a combination of factors, such as the irritation from the braces and a concurrent infection.

In most cases, swollen lymph nodes after getting braces are not a cause for concern and will resolve on their own within a few weeks. However, if the swelling persists or is accompanied by other symptoms, such as fever, pain, or difficulty swallowing, it is important to see a doctor to rule out any underlying medical conditions.

Here are some tips for managing swollen lymph nodes after getting braces:

* Rinse your mouth with warm salt water several times a day to help reduce irritation and inflammation.

* Avoid eating hard or crunchy foods that can further irritate the gums and tissues.

* Take over-the-counter pain relievers, such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen, to help relieve any discomfort.

* Apply a cold compress to the affected area for 15-20 minutes at a time to help reduce swelling.

* If the swelling persists or is accompanied by other symptoms, see a doctor for further evaluation.
