Signs of Lymph Node Cancer

Cancer of the lymph nodes, called lymphoma, is a type of cancer that starts in the body's white blood cells, according to the American Cancer Society. There are two types: non-Hodgkin lymphoma and Hodgkin disease. The difference between the two is what cells are involved. Diagnosis can be determined by examining the cancerous cells under a microscope. It is important to know what type of lymphoma a person has because treatments can vary greatly.
  1. Lymph Nodes

    • Swollen lymph nodes can be a sign of lymphoma.

    Weight

    • Weight loss without a change in diet or exercise is a sign of cancer of the lymph nodes.

    Fever

    • People with lymphoma sometimes have unexplained fevers as an early sign.

    Sweating

    • Heavy sweating, especially while sleeping, is a sign of lymphoma.

    Abdominal Pain

    • Swelling or pain in the abdomen can be a symptom of lymphoma.

    Chest Pain

    • Chest pain or coughing or shortness of breath without cause can be a sign of cancer of the lymph nodes.
