What is the cause of Tia?
The most common causes of TIAs are:
* Atherosclerosis: This is the buildup of plaque in the arteries, which narrows them and makes it harder for blood to flow through.
* Blood clots: These can form in the arteries of the brain or in other parts of the body and travel to the brain.
* Vasospasm: This is a sudden, temporary constriction of the arteries in the brain.
* Embolism: This is a foreign body that travels through the blood vessels to the brain and blocks an artery.
* Trauma: Head injuries can damage the arteries in the brain and cause TIAs.
* Certain medical conditions: These include high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, smoking, and obesity.
Some people are at higher risk for TIAs than others. These include people with:
* A family history of TIAs or strokes
* A personal history of TIAs or strokes
* A history of smoking
* A history of high blood pressure
* A history of diabetes
* Heart disease
* Obesity
