How many people die of measles?

Measles is a highly contagious infectious disease caused by a virus. It can cause serious complications, such as pneumonia and encephalitis, and can even lead to death. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), in 2018, there were an estimated 140,000 measles-related deaths globally, the highest number in over a decade. Most of these deaths occurred in low-income and middle-income countries, and among children under the age of five.
