How not to get Cancer?
While there is no guaranteed way to prevent cancer, there are certain lifestyle factors that can help reduce the risk of developing the disease:
- Avoid the Big Three: tobacco smoke, excess weight, and alcohol.
- Eat a healthy diet: Fill your plate with plenty of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, and choose lean sources of protein.
- Stay active: Aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise most days of the week.
- Protect your skin from the sun: Use broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher, wear protective clothing, and limit your time in the sun.
- Practice safe sex: Use condoms to reduce your risk of sexually transmitted infections, some of which have been linked to cancer.
- Be aware of your family history: Talk to your doctor about the types of cancer that have occurred in your family. If you are at higher risk of certain cancers, your doctor may recommend screening or other preventive measures.
- Get vaccinated: Get vaccinated against the hepatitis B virus, human papillomavirus, and other infectious agents that have been linked to cancer.
- Have regular check-ups: See your doctor for regular check-ups and screenings for common types of cancer. Early detection and treatment can increase your chances of survival.
