What is the survival rate for people who have basal cell carcinoma?
BCC is slow-growing and typically does not spread to other parts of the body. However, if left untreated, it can cause significant damage to the skin and underlying tissues.
The key to successful treatment of BCC is early diagnosis and treatment. If you notice a suspicious growth on your skin, such as a bump, nodule, or sore that does not heal, see your doctor or dermatologist right away. BCC can usually be treated with simple procedures, such as surgical excision, radiation therapy, or topical chemotherapy.
The prognosis for people with BCC is excellent. With early diagnosis and treatment, nearly all cases of BCC can be cured.
