What percentage of smokers get cancer?

There is no one definitive answer to this question, as the risk of cancer from smoking varies depending on a number of factors, including the amount smoked, the duration of smoking, and the individual's genetic susceptibility. However, it is generally estimated that around 10-15% of smokers will develop lung cancer at some point in their lives. This is significantly higher than the risk of lung cancer for non-smokers, which is around 1%.

In addition to lung cancer, smoking also increases the risk of a number of other types of cancer, including oral cancer, esophageal cancer, stomach cancer, pancreatic cancer, kidney cancer, bladder cancer, and cervical cancer. The overall risk of developing any type of cancer from smoking is estimated to be around 25%. This means that one in four smokers will eventually develop cancer as a result of their smoking habit.
