If you get a normal CA-125 blood test result is there still chance of having ovarian cancer?

A normal CA-125 blood test result does not guarantee that you do not have ovarian cancer, but it significantly reduces the likelihood. CA-125 is a protein that is often elevated in women with ovarian cancer, but it can also be elevated in other conditions, such as uterine fibroids, endometriosis, and pregnancy. Additionally, some women with ovarian cancer may have normal CA-125 levels.

If you have symptoms that suggest ovarian cancer, such as abdominal bloating, pelvic pain, or weight loss, your doctor may recommend additional tests, such as an ultrasound or a pelvic exam, to evaluate the possibility of ovarian cancer, even if your CA-125 level is normal.

It's important to discuss your concerns with your healthcare provider, who can help determine the appropriate course of action based on your individual situation.
