What Is Metastatic Prostate Cancer?

Metastatic prostate cancer is a type of cancer that starts in the prostate gland but has spread to other parts of the body, such as the bones, lungs, or lymph nodes. It is the most advanced stage of prostate cancer and is considered incurable, although treatments are available to help manage the disease and relieve symptoms. Metastatic prostate cancer is often treated with hormone therapy, chemotherapy, targeted therapy, and/or radiation therapy. The goal of treatment is to slow the growth of the cancer and prevent or delay the spread of the disease to other parts of the body.
