Will a lumbar mri also image the prostate?
A lumbar MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging), commonly referred to as a lower back MRI, is designed to capture detailed images of the structures within the lower spine or lumbar region. Its primary purpose is to assess conditions affecting the vertebrae, intervertebral discs, spinal cord, nerves, and surrounding soft tissues. The prostate is not located within the lumbar spine and therefore would not be included in the field of view of a lumbar MRI. To image the prostate, a different type of MRI called a prostate MRI or multiparametric MRI (mpMRI) of the pelvis would be necessary.Prostate Cancer - Related Articles
