Metastatic Prostate Cancer Symptoms
Metastatic prostate cancer is a term used when the malignancy has spread beyond the prostate to other parts of the body. Once the cancer has traveled through the lymphatic system and blood stream, tumors can appear anywhere in the body. The cancer at this stage will also often enter the bones. Symptoms of metastatic prostate cancer will depend on where it has spread to.-
Urinary
-
Urinary symptoms are the most common as prostate cancer spreads. These include frequent urination, difficulty urinating and blood in the urine.
Bones
-
Metastatic prostate cancer often enters the bones and presents a new set of symptoms. Fractures can occur and bone pain can be severe.
Weight
-
Loss of appetite is a symptom of metastatic prostate cancer. It can also cause a significant weight loss.
Other Organs
-
Symptoms of metastatic prostate cancer can become more wide range if the disease spreads to other organs. It is possible for the malignancy to enter the brain, kidneys and spinal cord.
Considerations
-
It is possible for prostate cancer to metastasize with little to no symptoms. Once it is in this stage, it can not be cured, so early prostate cancer detection is important.
