Why chest x ray taken as posterior to anterior view?
There are a few reasons why chest X-rays are typically taken as posterior to anterior (PA) views.
* To get a better view of the heart and lungs. The PA view provides a more direct view of the heart and lungs than other views, such as the lateral view. This is because the PA view is taken with the X-ray beam passing through the body from back to front, which allows for less distortion of the image.
* To reduce the amount of radiation exposure to the patient. The PA view requires less radiation than other views, such as the lateral view. This is because the X-ray beam passes through less tissue when taken from the back to the front of the body.
* To make it easier for the patient to be positioned. The PA view is the most comfortable position for most patients. This is because the patient can stand or sit with their back against the X-ray machine.
In some cases, a lateral view may be taken in addition to the PA view. This can be helpful for diagnosing certain conditions, such as pneumonia or a lung tumor.
