What is cutaneous carcinoma?

* Melanoma: This is the most serious type of skin cancer. It can appear anywhere on the skin, and can spread to other parts of the body.

Risk factors for skin cancer include:

* Exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun or from artificial sources, such as tanning beds

* A family history of skin cancer

* A personal history of sunburn

* A fair skin type

* Advanced age

Symptoms of skin cancer can include:

* A change in the size, shape, or color of a mole
