What is a stomach ache?
A stomach ache, also known as abdominal pain, is discomfort that occurs in the abdominal region. It can range from a mild discomfort to a severe pain and may be accompanied by a variety of symptoms, including nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, bloating and changes in bowel habits. While stomach aches are often not a cause for serious concern, some symptoms may indicate an underlying medical condition and require medical attention. Stomach aches can have various causes, including; indigestion, food poisoning, allergies, gastroenteritis, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), gastroesophageal reflux (GERD), ulcers, Crohn's disease and appendicitis.
