What if your right testicle is lager than the other?
Testicular size difference is relatively common and, in most cases, completely normal. The testicles are usually not exactly the same size, with one often slightly larger than the other. This is normal and does not usually cause any problems.
However, in some cases, a significant size difference between the testicles can be a sign of an underlying medical condition, such as:
- Testicular cancer
- Undescended testicle
- Varicocele
- Hydrocele
- Inguinal hernia
- Infection
- Trauma
Testicular cancer is the most serious potential cause of a large difference in testicle size. Testicular cancer is rare, but it is important to be aware of the symptoms, which can include:
- A lump in the testicle
- Pain in the testicle
- Swelling of the testicle
- A feeling of heaviness in the scrotum
- Changes in the texture of the testicle
- A change in the size or shape of the testicle
If you are concerned about a difference in the size of your testicles, it is important to see a doctor to rule out any underlying medical conditions. Your doctor will ask about your symptoms and examine your testicles. They may also order an ultrasound of the testicles to get a better view of the structures inside the scrotum.
In most cases, a difference in testicle size is not a cause for concern. However, if you are concerned about a difference in the size of your testicles, it is important to see a doctor for evaluation.
