Do some people only have one testicle?
Yes, it is possible for people to only have one testicle, a condition known as monorchidism. There can be one of some reasons why a person might only have one testicle, including:- Congenital anomalies: In some cases, a person is born with only one testicle, which may not have developed properly or descended into the scrotum.
- Testicular torsion: If the spermatic cord becomes twisted, the testicle may not receive blood supply and may need to be removed to prevent further complications.
- Trauma or injury: Sometimes, a testicle may be damaged or lost due to an injury or trauma.
- Cancer: In cases where testicular cancer is present, the affected testicle may need to be removed as a treatment.
