What does emphysema do?

Effects:

- Loss of lung tissue that doesn’t return to normal once lost

- Large air pockets in the lungs that can’t perform gas exchange

- Difficulty breathing

- Chronic cough and shortness of breath

- Damage to air sacs in the lungs (alveoli) that can’t be reversed
