How do you get throat infection?

1. Viral infections:

- The common cold and influenza are the most common causes of throat infections.

- Other viruses that can cause a throat infection include adenovirus, parainfluenza virus, and enterovirus.

2. Bacterial infections:

- Streptococcus pyogenes (strep throat) is the most common bacterial cause of a throat infection.

3. Fungal infections:

- Candida albicans is the most common fungus that causes a throat infection.

- Fungal throat infections are more common in people with weakened immune systems, such as those with HIV/AIDS or cancer.

4. Allergies:

- Allergies to pollen, dust, or pet dander can cause a sore throat.

- When you breathe in an allergen, your body produces histamine, which can cause inflammation and swelling in the throat.

5. Irritants:

- Smoke, dust, and other irritants can cause a sore throat.

- These irritants can damage the tissue in the throat, causing pain, swelling, and inflammation.

6. Dryness:

- A dry throat can become irritated and inflamed, leading to a sore throat.

- Dryness can be caused by a number of factors, such as low humidity, mouth breathing, or dehydration.

7. Acid reflux:

- Acid reflux occurs when stomach acid backs up into the esophagus.

- This can cause irritation and inflammation in the throat, leading to a sore throat.

8. Tonsillitis:

- Tonsillitis is an infection of the tonsils.

- The tonsils are two small glands located at the back of the throat. Tonsillitis can be caused by a viral or bacterial infection.
