Can you use a reduced services modifiers with pathology or laboratory codes?

Yes.

However, you need to use the reduced service modifier -52 with great care. Many payers do not include laboratory services in the -52 modifier definition.

If the lab allows such modifiers, you can then use the -52 modifier to designate that a portion of the CPT codes has not been performed or not reported.
