How much ADHD people have?
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a neuro developmental condition characterized by difficulty paying attention, impulsivity, and hyperactivity. The exact prevalence of ADHD varies depending on the study and the diagnostic criteria used. According to the Centers for Disease Control and prevention (CDC), approximately 11% of children aged 4-17 in the United States have been diagnosed with ADHD. This translates to about 6.4 million children. Boys are more likely to be diagnosed with ADHD than girls, with a ratio of about 3:1.
The prevalence of ADHD in adults is less clear, as it is often undiagnosed or misdiagnosed. Some studies suggest that around 4% of adults in the U.S. have ADHD. However, this number may be an underestimate, as many adults with ADHD may not be aware that they have the condition.
