What does marrow signal unremarkable mean on a MRI?

When a medical report states "marrow signal unremarkable" in relation to an MRI, it means the appearance and behavior of the bone marrow signal as seen on the MRI scan is within the normal range and doesn't show any abnormalities.

Bone marrow is the tissue that fills the inner cavities of bones. It is responsible for producing blood cells.

An MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) is a medical imaging technique that uses strong magnetic fields and radio waves to create detailed cross-sectional images of organs, tissues, and bones in the body.

When a radiologist or physician reads the MRI results and mentions that the "marrow signal is unremarkable," they are indicating that they've carefully assessed the MRI images of the bone marrow and haven't found any concerning signs of diseases, lesions, tumors, or any abnormalities in the bone marrow.

This means that within the limitations of MRI, the bone marrow appears healthy and normal.

An "unremarkable marrow signal" is usually positive finding as it suggests that there are no apparent abnormal conditions or injuries affecting the bone marrow at the time of the scan.
