Can people be allergic to ice cubes?
It is extremely rare for someone to be allergic specifically to ice cubes. Allergies are typically triggered by proteins, and since ice cubes are made from frozen water, they do not contain any protein allergens.
However, some people may experience a physical reaction to cold temperatures known as cold urticaria or cold-induced urticaria. In this condition, the sudden exposure to cold temperatures, including contact with ice cubes, causes the skin to develop itchy, red, and swollen hives. This reaction is not an allergy but an exaggerated response of the body's immune system to the rapid temperature change.
