Instructions for a Sinus Wash

Cleansing the sinuses with a warm saline solution can help remove excess nasal discharge and it can be soothing to allergy sufferers. There are spray varieties of sinus washes at the store, but the most effective way to cleanse the nasal passages is through the use of a neti pot. Many people claim to not get colds or sinus infections as often with daily use of this regimen.

Instructions

      Fill the neti pot with a mixture of lukewarm water and just a pinch of salt. This is the saline solution.

      Place the spout of the neti pot into one nostril, over a sink, tilting the head just enough that the solution flows into the sinuses.

      Allow the water to flow out of the opposite nostril, by adjusting your head until this begins to happen.

    • 4

      Repeat the steps for the other nostril and dump out any excess solution from the neti pot and rinse it with clean water.
