Excess Histamine Causes

Many people suffer from allergies when in the presence of certain allergens, such as hair, pollen or dust. Your body will release excess histamines in its effort to fight what it perceives as a bacteria or virus. This, in turn, causes symptoms like a runny nose, sneezing and watery eyes. In order to control the amount of histamine your body produces, there are a number of allergens you should try to avoid.
  1. Pollen

    • High concentrations of pollen are generally found in areas where plants and flowers produce at high rates. Pollen allergies are often the result of contact with pollen from grass, trees and weeds, which travel through wind quite easily. Thus, people with known allergic reactions to pollen should avoid areas with a high number of grassy and tree-populated areas, as well as garden work.

    Dust Mite

    • Dust mite allergies are triggered by tiny mites that live in microscopic particles accumulated in small bits of dust. These particles can include mold spores, pet dander, dead skin cells and microscopic mites that live in bedding or other cloth. To reduce dust mites, clean and vacuum your home thoroughly, concentrating on the bedroom. Wash your sheets in hot water once a week to minimize dust mites living in your bed.

    Mold

    • Mold is found in damp places in the home, and is exacerbated by warm conditions, as well. Mold spores can cause coughing, runny nose, wheezing and harmful health conditions. To prevent mold allergies in the home, keep windows and doors open in spaces where moisture accumulates, and be sure to wipe away any excess moisture. If you find mold growth, contact a professional to remove it, as it may be harmful.
