1
Prepare a solution to remove the skunk spray from a pet. An effective solution to eliminate the skunk odor uses one quart of 3% hydrogen peroxide, ¼ cup of baking soda, and one teaspoon of liquid dish detergent. Prepare this solution in a bucket in an area without carpet because this solution may bleach the fabric in carpets if it is accidentally spilled. This solution needs to be used immediately after being mixed to be effective so don't make it until you are ready to wash your pet.

2
Bring your pet outside to be washed. Many pets dislike being washed and will resist you. You certainly don't want an agitated wet animal with skunk spray and a bleaching solution to break free from your control and run around inside your home. Unless your pet is very obedient, put a leash on him to make sure he can't run away.

3
Pour the solution gently over your pet and let it soak in for a few minutes. Be careful not to get any solution in his eyes, mouth, or nose. Rinse him off with water until the solution is gone. If the odor is still there just repeat the process until your pet is odor free. If your pet was sprayed in the face, wash the eyes out with a saline solution and clean out the nostrils with a damp paper towel.

4
Dry your pet off with a towel. You may want to give your pet a walk to let him completely dry out before allowing him to enter your home.

5
Soak your clothes in ammonia for a few minutes if any skunk spray got on them to remove the odor.
