Apply for Medicaid or other programs that may help cover the costs for needy families. To do so, you need to call your county Department of Human Services and fill out the necessary paperwork. If you are having trouble with the forms, they will help you through the process and let you know what else needs to be done. They would also be able to tell you of any special programs that may be coming up that could help you. As the public becomes more aware of the importance of affordable health care, there are new programs developing all the time to help financially needy families. Even though getting government assistance for a healthy adult is difficult, keep in mind that the rules are relaxed considerably when it comes to insuring a child.

Visit a free or sliding fee clinic. These clinics charge you based upon your income level and insurance or lack thereof. They will also work with you on a payment plan if need be. Medical students often perform some of the more basic services, but a doctor is always available to supervise the clinic's activities.

Ask your doctor if you could set up a payment plan. Many clinics will allow patients with no insurance to set up a plan to pay for allergy shots in monthly installments. You may even be able to make a certain number of payments before interest will be charged.
