1
Drink cool filtered water for immediate relief. Keep a bottle of water with you throughout the day to minimize itchiness and coughing.
-
2
Drink a cup of herbal tea that doesn't contain teine. Make sure that the tea is not hot but lukewarm. Try going outside or to a cool area while drinking the tea to help reduce the itchiness, which could be caused by an allergy.
-
3
Take an over-the-counter allergy medication that contains a decongestant, such as Clariton-D or Allegra-D. This will help to reduce the itchiness, especially if dry air is causing the problem.
-
4
Place a humidifier near your bed and turn it when you go to sleep. The humidifier will allow you to breathe moist air while you sleep.
-
5
Take an antibiotic, anti-cough syrup or an antihistamine if the itchiness continues and if you experience other symptoms, such as soreness or fever. Get plenty of rest if you have a cold or fever and drink plenty of water.
