Histinex HC Side Effects

Histinex HC is a combination medicine that is used for the treatment of symptoms that are commonly associated with allergies, the common cold, influenza, hay fever, and respiratory disorders such as bronchitis and sinusitis. It is comprised of a decongestant, which helps with stuffy noses, and an antihistamine, which soothes itchy throat, nose and eyes, as well as sneezing, watery eyes and runny nose. It also includes antitussive, which is a narcotic that works to reduce coughing.

    • The most-common side effects of Histinex HC are considered to be minor and harmless, for the most part. These common side effects are stomach upset, dizziness, drowsiness, constipation, dry mouth, nausea, headache, blurry vision, and dry throat, mouth or nose. These side effects tend to go away by themselves, but if they happen to linger or get worse with time, consult your doctor regarding the situation.

    Mucus

    • Histinex HC can cause the mucus to become dry and thicker inside of the lungs. This could result in breathing being much more difficult than usual. It could also make clearing up the lungs much harder. To prevent this uncomfortable side effect, consume a lot of fluids such as water and juices.

    Severe Side Effects

    • There are some possible severe side effects that could happen due to Histinex HC. These side effects are uncommon, but can potentially be harmful, so if you experience any of them, immediately notify your physician. These severe side effects are ringing in the ears, mood or mental changes (like hallucinations, confusion and disorientation), feelings of weakness, shallow or slow breathing, difficulty urinating and tremors.

    Rare Side Effects

    • There are several extremely rare and potentially extreme serious side effects that call for immediate emergency medical attention. These possibly dangerous side effects include slow, rapid, or irregular heartbeat; bleeding or bruising easily; and convulsions.

    Allergic Reactions

    • Serious allergic reactions to Histinex HC are very uncommon, but occasionally occur. They can be harmful, so seek immediate medical help if you think you are experiencing this type of reaction. Some symptoms of Histinex HC allergic reaction include extreme dizziness, trouble breathing, swelling, skin rash and itchiness.
