1
See a doctor. Head pressure may be indicative of a serious problem. You may be referred to a neurologist in the case of inflamed blood vessels.
-
2
Prepare to undergo testing to see what's wrong. Possible tests include an MRA, an MRI, blood work and a CT scan.
-
3
Try to unblock your ears. Hold your nose and blow as hard as you can. This may provide some relief from the feeling of pressure.
-
4
Sleep with your head elevated and use a dehumidifier. According to the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, Inc., this promotes sinus drainage, which may alleviate some of the pressure in your head.
-
5
Take a combination of an anti-inflammatory and pain reliever. Toradol and Tylenol are two examples of medications that may reduce head pressure.
-
6
Buy an over-the-counter decongestant to alleviate sinus swelling or an antihistamine to treat allergies.
-
7
Consider taking a blood pressure medication. This may relieve the feeling of tightness in your head.
