Home Remedy for Nasal Allergies
Nasal allergies are hypersensitive reactions to normally harmless substances. They affect people of all ages and may be triggered by pollen, plants, animal dander, feathers and a host of other environmental elements. There are many natural treatments available to help prevent and alleviate these reactions.-
Herbal Treatments

A variety of herbal home remedies may help treat nasal allergies. Try drinking 1 or 2 cups a day of chamomile tea to prevent swollen nasal passages. Chen-pi taken in tincture form may prevent allergic reactions. Take 10 to 15 drops in 1/4 cup of water three times a day.
Ginger also lessens allergic inflammations. Take 1,000 milligrams three to four times a day. Horseradish may help ease congestion. Take 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of prepared horseradish daily until symptoms improve.
Take 150 to 300 milligrams of pinebark or grapeseed extract daily to stop a runny nose. Quercetin can help prevent seasonal allergies if taken daily about six to eight weeks before allergy season begins. Take 125 to150 milligrams three times a day.
Rooibos tea acts as a natural antihistamine. Stinging nettle can provide dramatic relief from hay fever and stops a runny nose.
Traditional Chinese Medicines

Ephedra Decoction may help stop wheezing. Kudzu can be used to treat nasal allergies that are accompanied by a stiff neck and back. Ephedra, Asiasarum and Prepared Aconite Decoction may help treat nasal congestion caused by cedar pollen allergies. Take before the start of allergy season for optimal effectiveness.
Aromatherapy

Essential oils or whole herbs added to boiling water can help open clogged nasal passages. The best ones are eucalyptus, thyme and peppermint. Soak 1 ounce of the herb or add a few drops of the oil to a boiling cup of water and inhale the steam.
Supplements

Thymus extracts can shorten the duration and frequency of nasal allergies. They prevent the immune system from releasing chemicals that trigger allergic reactions. Take 750 milligrams once a day. There have been mixed results from studies about whether vitamin C can help prevent hay fever. It may help and certainly will not hurt. Take 1,000 milligrams daily.
Other Suggestions

Rub chamomile cream on your diaphragm to relax the muscles and improve breathing. Install a HEPA air filter in your home and use a vacuum with a HEPA filter. Drink at least eight glasses of steam distilled water daily and try to avoid tap water.
Some people have reported benefit from hypnosis and psychological desensitization therapy. Additionally, some people claim to have cured their allergies by eating locally produced bee pollen and honey. Consult a doctor before trying this.
Another home remedy is to use a neti pot with a saline solution to clean out the nasal passages. You can buy these pots in a variety of stores and they usually come with the solution.
