How to Use Beconase
-
1
Consult your physician to determine whether a prescription for Beconase is right for you. The medication should not be used by pregnant women or women who may become pregnant, as coticosteroids have been clinically proven to increase the risk of birth defects.
-
2
Shake well before using the inhaler precisely as prescribed by your doctor. Failure to use the inhaler in the manner and frequency as prescribed may reduce or eliminate any beneficial effects of the medication.
-
3
Adults and children age 12 or older should insert Beconase into the nostril, and use one to two inhalations per nostril, twice daily. It usually is recommended that the dosages be spread out, one in the morning and one in the evening. The manufacturer reports patients should not exceed 336 micrograms per day.

Children ages 6 to 12 should insert the Beconase inhaler into each nostril. Use one inhalation per nostril, twice daily. Do not exceed 168 micrograms per day without discussing with your physician.

Know that it may take a week of using the inhaler before the effects are felt and up to three weeks before the full benefits can be realized.
