Carrot Allergy Symptoms
Carrots are packed with nutrition and often lauded by nutritionists due to the high concentration of essential vitamins, minerals and antioxidants they contain. Unfortunately, some people are unable to eat carrots due to a carrot allergy. Carrot allergy symptoms range from mild to severe, and can even be deadly.-
Oral Symptoms

Carrot allergies may cause symptoms of the mouth. This is because the inside of the mouth is made up of thin mucus membranes which are easily affected by allergy triggers. Carrot allergies that affect the mouth may cause itching, redness and/or swelling of the mouth.
Carrot Allergies Affecting the Skin

After the carrot has been ingested, the skin may be affected by carrot allergies. Carrot allergies may present on the skin in the form of itching and/or hives. Hives are raised areas of the skin, looking much like mosquito bites, with irregular borders. Treatment is usually with over-the-counter medication. However, if symptoms are severe or unbearable, call your doctor.
Respiratory Symptoms

A carrot allergy may also manifest itself in the form of respiratory symptoms. For instance, a person with carrot allergies may experience cough, chest tightness and wheezing.
Symptoms of the Nose and Eyes

Carrot allergies may also cause symptoms that are very much like cold symptoms. The patient may experience a stuffy, runny nose. He may also experience symptoms of conjunctivitis (commonly known as pink eye). These symptoms are usually more bothersome than dangerous, and can be treated with over-the-counter medications.
Symtpoms of the Throat

The throat may be affected by a carrot allergies. Symptoms may include hoarseness and difficulty swallowing. If the difficulty swallowing is severe or progresses rapidly, immediate medical attention is needed.
Anaphylaxis

Anaphlyaxis --also known as anaphylactic shock-- is a potentially deadly symptom of a severe carrot allergy. In such cases, the patient's blood pressure drops rapidly, she experiences difficulty breathing and may lose consciousness. If the patient loses consciousness, call 911 immediately. The patient may slip into a coma, and could potentially die.
