Foods Causing Eczema

Eczema is an allergic skin condition that can be caused and triggered by food allergies. Most commonly seen inside the elbows and knees, eczema appears as patches of pink, extremely itchy skin. Unfortunately, many foods that trigger eczema are common staples of everyday diets.
  1. Dairy Products

    • Dairy products are extremely allergenic. These include milk, cheese, yogurt and butter.

    Eggs

    • Eggs can cause allergic reactions and rashes. Eggs can be found in many packaged foods, so reading the labels of the foods you eat is important.

    Peanuts

    • Peanuts can trigger eczema breakouts in some people. Peanuts can also be found in many packaged foods and in some of the dishes served at Asian restaurants.

    Wheat

    • Wheat is a major cause of skin irritations, especially in children. Avoiding wheat can be tricky and difficult. Luckily, most health food stores now carry wheat-free foods.

    Soybeans

    • Soybeans can not only trigger allergic eczema, but can also contribute to thyroid dysfunction. Avoid all foods containing soy.
