How to Relieve Sinus Congestion With A Neti Pot

What's a Neti Pot? If you have seasonal, or annual, sinus allergies, you may be at your wits end. Maybe you have tried every allergy medication in the book, but still no relief. Using a neti pot may be the solution to your problem. Sure it looks unsettling, and maybe even downright disgusting, but it may offer great allergy and sinus relief. This is how you can use a neti pot to cure your allergy woes.

Instructions

    • 1

First you will need to purchase a neti pot. This is a specially designed pot used to cleanse your sinuses. You can also buy special all-natural herbs to mix in the pot to help more serious cases of sinus problems.

    • 2

Fill the neti pot with warm water. Dump a teaspoon of salt in with the water. If you are adding a supplement, make sure to follow the directions on water measurement.

    • 3

Grasp the pot with your dominant hand, as if you are holding a coffee cup, that it so conveniently looks like.

    • 4

Pour a small amount of water out of the end, so that it does not spill when you begin to tip the pot. Lean over a sink, stooping low to make sure no water gets on the floor. Stick the pointed end of the pot in one of your nostrals. Lean your head to one side and begin to pour, slowly, the water into your nose. You may need to adjust your head so that the water flows through your nasal passage, into your sinus, and out the opposite nostral.

    • 5

Repeat this on the other nostral. After you have used all of the contents in the pot, readjust your head to allow any excess water to flow out. Blow your nose to remove any other contents. Repeat this once a week, or once a day, depending on if conditions persist.
