How to Prevent Year Round Allergies

Everyone has some kind of allergy. Whether it is seasonal, pet-related mold and dust occurring, you can bet there is always something in the air to make us sneeze. During the spring and summer we are usually rubbing our eyes, scratching our noses until they hurt and sneezing from pollen, mold, dust and pet hair. During the fall and winter we might not have as much to sneeze about except of course maybe dust or pet hair since some animals do tend to shed in the winter also. There are ways to prevent allergies. You just need to find out what is causing them in the first place.

Look at your home or work environment. Find out what's causing the allergies in the first place and then you can proceed to preventing and treating them. There are probably more allergens in the air at home and work than you realize. Once you determine what is causing your allergies, then you can prevent them from occurring in the first place.

Use a special kind of air filter. The best one to use is the HEPA type air filter or High Efficiency Particulate Air filter. These types of filters are made of tightly packed filters that look like thick paper and are folded to look like a mini accordion. They maximize the air's contact with the filter, therefore eliminating more allergens than a regular air filter.

Use a good deep cleaning shampooer to clean deep down in your carpets. An upholstery cleaner is a good idea for your furniture to get deep down in there and grab the dust and pet hair.

Use a good vacuum cleaner. There are vacuum cleaners with the HEPA air filter installed in them already. There are also some vacuums without the HEPA installed and work just as well. Shop around and find the right vacuum that gets all of those particles out of your carpet and living area.

Use an air conditioner during the summer and keep your windows and doors closed as much as you can to keep the allergens outside. Also, use a dehumidifier in your home and you will breath much easier.
