How to Use Dust Mite Sprays
Dust mites are microscopic organisms that live in dust particles and feed upon the dead skin cells we shed by the thousands every day. Unfortunately, having a dust mite population that is out of control in your home can cause allergic reactions with symptoms that are similar to asthma. By using a variety of dust mite sprays, you can reduce the population of dust mites in your home and neutralize the allergens in their feces as well.Things You'll Need

Select a dust mite spray with natural ingredients if you have young children and pets in the home. These products do not contain insecticides, but rather non-allergenic agents that counteract the effects of dust mite feces, which cause most symptoms of dust mite allergies. You can use these sprays directly on carpets, furniture and bedding, or you can pour the spray directly into a carpet steamer for even better results.

2
Use a dust mite spray that contains insecticides if you have an unusually high level of dust mite activity in your home. Many of these products can be used to kill fleas as well, and may be particularly useful if you have pets in the house. Ensure that you follow all safety warnings, and remove all children and pets from the sprayed area.

Make your own dust mite spray by brewing a particularly strong cup of black tea, straining the leaves and then pouring the tea into a bottle sprayer. The tannins in black tea are very effective in neutralizing the allergens found in dust mite feces. You may want to be cautious about staining furniture and bedding with the tea solution, however.

Spray the dust mite products in all problems areas, including carpets, drapes, curtains and bedding. Take extra time when spraying around the mattresses in your house, ensuring that you treat between the mattress and box spring, and along the edge of the mattress where it comes in contact with the wall.
