Can you get sick if a fly lands on you?

In general, flies landing on you do not cause illness. Flies can carry bacteria and other microorganisms on their bodies and legs, but they do not typically transfer significant numbers of these microorganisms to humans when they land. Most species of flies are also not known to transmit diseases directly. However, certain types of flies, such as tse tse flies and certain types of sandflies, can transmit serious diseases when they bite. These flies are found in specific geographic regions and are typically associated with tropical and subtropical climates.

So while it's possible for flies to carry and spread diseases, it is not common for a casual encounter with a fly to result in illness. However, maintaining good hygiene, including regular handwashing and proper storage and preparation of food, can help reduce the potential risk of contracting a disease from any type of insect or other organism.
