Does an EEG of the brain show Dementia?

Electroencephalography (EEG) is a method to record electrical activity of the brain. It can be used to detect abnormal brain activity, such as that seen in epilepsy, head injuries, and sleep disorders. However, EEG is not typically used to diagnose dementia, as it cannot show the structural changes in the brain that are characteristic of the condition. Neuroimaging techniques such as MRI and CT scans are more commonly used for this purpose.
