1
Take the researched information and present it to the individual whose memory is fading. Use a search engine on the Internet to find information about the variety of effects that are caused by fading memory, or take a trip to the library to find more in-depth information. Inform the individual of how helpful the research is. This information may persuade the individual into believing what their proper diagnosis is and what they can do to get help.
-
2
Write down a list of neurologists whom you feel comfortable having the individual visit, then narrow down the list to two. Make appointments with both neurologists to ensure that you get a correct diagnosis. Talk with the individual about the appointments on a regular basis, allowing a reasonable time span for the individual to become familiar with the upcoming appointments. Remind the individual what to expect while at the doctor's office.
-
3
Video-record the individual's behavior that is considered abnormal. Present the video to the individual by stating the unusual behaviors that took place on the video. This video could be an eye-opener to the individual by showing them the dysfunctional behaviors that come with a fading memory.
