How to Drive While Taking Aricept

Aricept is a medical prescription for individuals who may be suffering from Alzheimer's Disease. This is a disease in which a person may have trouble remembering people, events or tasks they just accomplished. Aricept is a medication that helps slow down the disease. Due to forgetting information, you may not be allowed to drive a vehicle when you have Alzheimer's or are taking Aricept.

      Ask your doctor if it is alright for you to drive. During the early stages of Alzheimer's, you can continue to drive a vehicle. However as the disease progresses, your ability to concentrate on driving will lessen, in which case you no longer are allowed to drive a vehicle.

      Take the Aricept medication once a day. You are going to either take a 5mg or 10mg dose. This is going to depend on your doctor's prescription and how far along in Alzheimer's you may be. T

      Drink a glass of water with the medication. Although it is not necessary to consume a meal with Aricept a glass of water can help your body digest the medicine.

      Consult your doctor if you have been on Aricept for several months and either haven't seen any improvements in your symptoms or your symptoms have become worse. Aricept doesn't work on everyone, and if this is the case, your doctor may prescribe something else. During this visit, if the symptoms have become worse the doctor may tell you that you should no longer drive an automobile.
