How many anorexics die as a result of their anorexic condition?

The mortality rate for people with anorexia nervosa is one of the highest of any psychiatric disorder, with studies suggesting that between 0.58% and 4% of individuals with anorexia will die as a result of the condition. This means that for every 25-172 cases of anorexia, the person will not survive as a result of the long-term complications of weight loss, malnutrition, physiological dysregulation and suicide related to their diagnosis.
