Goat Cream for Athritis

Skin care cream made from goat's milk is touted on the Internet as helping to reduce the pain of arthritis. Goat's milk dairies wrote many press releases in 2006 claiming goat milk cream contained a natural painkiller anti-inflammatory called MSM.
  1. Definition

    • MSM is short for methyl sulfonyl methane or methylsulfonylmethane. However, there has not been any creditable scientific evidence to back up any claims that MSM can ease pain or reduce swelling.

    Expert Advice

    • Rheumatologist Dr. Roy Altman claims that the act of rubbing on any skin care cream helps to ease arthritis pain, no matter what ingredients it contains. So although some anecdotal evidence may exist that goat's milk cream can help ease arthritis, it is not necessarily an arthritis cure.

    Warning

    • MSM has not been approved by the Food and Drug Administration for use in treating arthritis. Since there are chances for side effects such as a skin rash, always consult a doctor or rheumatologist before using goat's milk cream or tablets.
