How to Cure Gout & Foot Pain

1
Consult a physician to have gout properly diagnosed. Other types of joint inflammations can present themselves like gout. Once properly diagnosed, an effective treatment plan can be followed to ensure a rapid recovery.
-
2
Limit the intake of high-purine foods. Purines are natural materials found in all foods; however, some foods have higher purine contents than others. Purines metabolize to form uric acid, which causes gout.
-
3
Wear a stiff-soled shoe to reduce joint stress in the foot. Soft-soled shoes bend too easily and cause stress in the foot's joints; wearing these shoes should be avoided. An orthotic placed in the shoe can further support the joints where gout or foot pain exists.
-
4
Maintain a healthy diet rich in fruits and vegetables. Cherries and strawberries are popular remedies for gout. Be aware that although this remedy has been proven in some instances, studies are inconclusive.
-
5
Reduce the inflamed joint by taking nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Although some medications such as NSAIDs can be taken to reduce uric acid levels, you should not start or stop taking preventative gout medications like Allopurinol and Probenecid during a gout flare-up.
