Devilbiss Nebulizer Instructions

The DeVilbiss compressor/nebulizer is prescribed to patients who need to inhale liquid medication to treat a respiratory condition. Its operating mechanism is quite simple: turn on and assemble the machine, insert your medication and then inhale the mist. However, before you operate your DeVilbiss compressor/nebulizer you should thoroughly read the manufacturer's instructions. These will familiarize you with the parts of the machine, its cleaning needs and the warnings associated with its use.

Instructions

    • 1

Wash your hands with water and soap for at least 20 seconds.

    • 2

Place the nebulizer on a nearby table or other easy-to-reach flat surface. Keep the machine several feet away from any electronic equipment, to avoid interference.

    • 3

Make sure that the compressor's power switch is in the "Off" position. Then plug the machine into the wall. DeVilbiss nebulizer/compressors come with polarized plugs that fit into the outlet in only one way. If the plug does not easily fit into the outlet, flip it and try it the other way. Do not force it.

    • 4

Insert one end of the nebulizer's tube into the air-outlet connector located on the top of the machine (below the top panel in some models).

    • 5

Assemble and load the nebulizer. Insert the baffle down into the medication cup. Insert the appropriate dosage of prescribed medication into the medication cup. Then screw the nebulizer cap on top of the cup. Insert the assembled mouthpiece (connect the mouthpiece to the T-piece) or the bottom of the mask (depending on your model) directly into the top of the nebulizer cap.

    • 6

Insert the free end of the nebulizer's tube into the nebulizer air-inlet connector in the bottom of the medication cup.

    • 7

Turn the compressor's power switch to the "on" position. This will start the compressor.

    • 8

Place the mouthpiece between your top and bottom teeth and close your mouth, or place the face mask over your mouth (depending on your model). Inhale deeply and slowly to breathe in the medication until the medication cup is empty. Follow any specific breathing technique your doctor has prescribed. If you need to interrupt the treatment at any time, simply push the compressor's power button to the "Off" position.

    • 9

Turn the power switch to the "Off" position. Unplug the unit from the outlet.
