Is asthma when you breathe in or out?
Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease of the airways. It causes episodes of wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, and shortness of breath. These symptoms can be triggered by a variety of things, including allergens, exercise, cold air, and stress.
When someone with asthma breathes in, the muscles around the airways tighten and the airways become narrower. This makes it difficult for air to get in and out of the lungs, which can cause wheezing, coughing, and shortness of breath.
In addition to the inflammatory process, asthma is also characterized by an increase in the production of mucus in the airways. This mucus can further obstruct the airways and make breathing difficult.
Asthma can be a serious disease, but it can be managed with proper treatment. Treatment options include medications to reduce inflammation and relax the muscles around the airways, as well as lifestyle changes to avoid triggers.
