How to Use a Slipstream Nebulizer
When patients complain of breathing problems or have a history of asthma, doctors often prescribe a breathing treatment. A slipstream nebulizer is a device that aids the patient in breathing by allowing medication into the lungs via an aerosol mist. Patients breathe the mist directly from the slipstream nebulizer, loosening the airways to allow more comfortable and deeper breathing. The treatment is often administered in doctor's offices and hospitals, but some nebulizers are prescribed for home use as well.Things You'll Need

1
Dispense the prescribed amount of medication into the medicine cup using the dropper.
-
2
Snap the mouthpiece onto the main unit. Fasten the medicine cup to the unit.
-
3
Connect the main unit to the port on the compressor and turn the nebulizer's power switch on. Check that mist comes out the mouthpiece. In a slipstream nebulizer, mist should steadily come out.
-
4
While sitting comfortably, hold the unit in an upright position, and place your mouth firmly around the mouthpiece. Follow your physician's breathing instructions. Some conditions require long, deep breaths, while others require normal breathing for a period of time.

5
Continue until the medicine in the cup is empty, or the doctor's recommended time passes.
