Spiriva Handihaler Instructions
The Spiriva HandiHaler is a device used to administer Spiriva capsules, a medication for people who experience breathing difficulties associated with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). COPD can cause shortness of breath, wheezing, restricted air flow and other discomfort. The HandiHaler is similar to an asthma inhaler, but it contains a capsule that is replaced after each use and it only needs to be used once a day.Instructions

1
Remove the HandiHaler from its pouch.
-
2
Push the green button to open the dust cap.
-
3
Lift open the mouthpiece with your fingers.
-
4
Insert the Spiriva capsule into the center chamber. It doesn't matter which end you insert.
-
5
Close the mouthpiece over the capsule until you hear it click.
-
6
Hold the HandiHaler upright and press down on the green piercing button. It is the same button you pressed to open the dust cap. This pierces the capsule so it is ready for inhalation.
-
7
Exhale completely before inhaling. Bring the mouthpiece to your lips and inhale until your lungs are full. Hold your breath as long as you can, then breathe normally.
