Prime the inhaler if this is the first time you have used it or the last use was more than two weeks ago. Remove the cap and shake the inhaler several times. Point the mouthpiece away from you and press the canister down, then release. Depress the canister two more times to complete priming.

Exhale from your mouth. Force as much air as possible out of your lungs. Seal your lips around the mouthpiece. Press down on the canister with your finger until it stops. Breathe in slowly to inhale the medicated mist.

Remove the inhaler from your mouth. Close your mouth and hold your breath for 10 seconds. Repeat this process as many times as your prescription specifies. Push the cap back onto the mouthpiece.

Pull the canister straight up to remove it from the actuator case. Remove the cap from the mouthpiece. Place the actuator under a faucet with warm running water. Let the case dry overnight. Repeat this process once a week or any time the actuator seems clogged.
