Loading the medication rectally requires a lot of patience and delicate movement, because it can be an unpleasant experience. Make sure to take the medication on an empty stomach or at least one hour before or two hours after a meal.

      Expose the suppository by removing its wrapper, then dip the tip of the suppository in room-temperature water.

      Lie down on your left side and lift your right knee to your chest. If you are left-handed, lie on your right side and raise your left knee.

      Use your finger to insert the suppository into the rectum. Insert the suppository 1/2 to 1 inch in infants and children and 1 inch in adults. Hold the suppository in place for five to 11 seconds.

      Lie still on your side for about 15 minutes. Complete by washing your hands thoroughly with anti-bacterial soap and warm water.
